In Ludhiana market, declining trend in cotton yarn continued due to weaker demand and bearish tone in the natural fibre. Cotton yarn prices slipped further by ₹10 per kg because buying remained silent. Traders are uncertain about the revival of buying from the weaving industry. A local trader told Fibre2Fashion, “Both demand and supply sides are pushing prices downside. Cotton prices have recorded downfall in north India due to higher arrival. Demand was also uncertain, so buyers are purchasing only for hand-to-mouth.” In Ludhiana, 30 count cotton combed yarn was sold at ₹375-370 per kg (GST inclusive), according to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro. 20 and 25 count combed yarn were traded at ₹360-365 per kg and ₹355-360 per kg respectively. Carded yarn of 30 count was quoted at ₹315-320 per kg.
However, sentiments were not too bearish in Delhi market. Cotton yarn prices steadied here as buyers from nearby areas of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana were purchasing cotton yarn on regular basis. A trader from Delhi market told Fibre2Fashion, “The market is witnessing regular buying from the weaving industry. However, overall demand remained unsupportive for gain in prices. However, further support of buying may trigger upside trend in prices.” 30 count combed yarn was traded at ₹375-380 per kg (GST extra), 40 count combed at ₹415-420 per kg, 30 count carded at ₹330-335 per kg and 40 count carded at ₹370-375 per kg, as per TexPro.
Panipat market continued to have bearish tone in recycled yarn prices. The price of 20 count recycled (PC-high quality) fibre fell further by ₹5 per kg. Prices remained stable for other counts and varieties of recycled yarn. A trader said that recycled yarns of certain counts were traded in loss. He said that both export and local buying remained weak. Buyers are purchasing for immediate consumption only due to uncertainty about revival of demand. In Panipat market, 10s recycled yarn (white) was traded at ₹88-93 per kg (excluding GST), 10s recycled yarn (coloured - high quality) at ₹105-110 per kg, 10s recycled yarn (coloured - low quality) at ₹80-85 per kg and 20s recycled high quality PC yarn (coloured) at ₹110-115 per kg. 30 count recycled yarn was sold at ₹160-165 per kg. 10s optical yarn was traded at ₹100-110 per kg in the market. Comber prices were ruling at ₹135-130 with steady trend. The price of recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) was noted steady at ₹90-92 per kg.
Meanwhile, cotton prices steadied in north India today after witnessing downtrend during the last couple of days. Most of the arrival was recorded in Haryana mandis. Punjab and Rajasthan also received few lots of new cotton. Total arrival was estimated at 6,000 bales of 170 kg each. Cotton was traded at ₹8,100-8,200 per maund of 37.2 kg for spot deals. Forward deals were concluded at ₹7,900-7,950 per maund for September and 7,500-7,550 per maund for October delivery.
