A Ludhiana-based trader told Fibre2Fashion, “Poor demand led to downfall in PC yarn prices. Current higher prices are not comfortable for consumer industries. The prices reduced by 5/kg.” Market sources told that spinning mills are reducing their selling prices. During last week, north India-based Vardhman group had reduced yarn prices by ₹6/kg. However, polyester and recycled polyester yarn prices remained stable. According to market sources, buyers are shifting to cheaper raw material to keep production under control. It is a supporting factor for recycled yarn.

In Ludhiana market, polyester-cotton yarn prices dropped by ₹5 per kg due to weaker demand. 30 count PC combed yarn (48/52) was sold at ₹295-300 per kg (GST inclusive), according to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro. 30 count PC carded yarn (65/35) was priced at ₹280-290 per kg. 20 count PC (recycled-O/E) PSF yarn (40/60) was traded at ₹215-220 per kg. 30 count poly spun yarn was sold at ₹190-200 per kg and 30 count recycled poly spun yarn at ₹172-177 per kg. There was steady trend in recycled yarn and fibre as buyers are shifting to cheaper alternatives. High tenacity recycled fibre was priced at ₹100 per kg.

The price of PSF steadied at ₹131 per kg by India’s dominant manufacturer Reliance Industries Limited. The company fixed prices of raw material as: PTA ₹99.50 (-5) per kg, MEG ₹63.60 per kg and MELT at ₹106.53 (-4.97) per kg, as per TexPro.

Meanwhile, cotton prices weakened in north India by ₹100-200 per maund of 37.2 kg amid slower demand. According to traders, cotton was sold at ₹9,400-9,800 per maund in Bathinda, ₹9,200-9,600 per maund in Hissar and ₹9,600-9,800 per maund in Sriganganagar market.
